Publication: Engaging an Expert Economist

I am an independent economist.

I am not affiliated with a university, industry association, trade union or employer group. That independence supports objectivity and credibility.

My reports have been accepted in superior courts in various Australian jurisdictions. I am experienced in giving evidence under cross-examination.

I combine rigorous economic analysis with an accessible, evidence-led approach. My reports are forensic and practical. I aim to bring clarity to courts, clients and counsel.

Drawing on my diverse experience, I explain the real-world implications of my findings. I focus on plain language so my evidence can be used directly in submissions, mediation and oral argument.

I am an independent economist and expert witness. My work largely focuses on questions of quantum and compensation. I have particular expertise in labour markets, economic loss, employability and remuneration.

I prepare expert reports and give evidence in proceedings in all areas of law, where economic loss is an issue.

I accept instructions at all stages of a dispute, including for preliminary assessments, scenario testing and early settlement discussions.

Areas of Expertise

I provide independent expert reports across a range of areas, including:

  • Economic loss and compensation.

  • Quantum of damages.

  • Current and future earning capacity.

  • Employability and labour market dynamics.

  • Underemployment and workforce participation.

  • Superannuation and long-term financial impact.

I undertake economic modelling grounded in independent data, such as the Australian Bureau of Statistics, industry benchmarks and other relevant sources. I build transparent, testable counterfactual models of what earnings and capacity would probably have done over time, using recognised economic methods and current data.

My reports are tailored to the facts of each case. I set out data, assumptions and reasoning clearly so they can be tested in cross-examination and applied directly to the legal questions in issue.
